Heart Attack

Heart problems are one of the first causes of death in many countries. Heart attacks are the most frequent of them. But the heart attack is mostly a result of a heart problem. One of those problems that can cause heart attacks is the narrowing of arteries that are responsible for suppling the heart with blood. When the blood does not reach the heart, the heart attacks sets off. This is the reason why, half of the people who suffer from heart attacks die. Of course not all heart attacks can result in death of that person, but the consequences are not very pleasant.

The heart attack, in medical terms myocardial infarction, has as a result the death of the heart' s muscle. The coronary arteries supply the heart with blood and oxygen. When these vessels get blocked, the person suffers a heart attack. The symptoms of the heart attack are pain in the chest and pressure. When the heart attack starts off, the blood flow starts to be smaller up to non existent. The death of the heart' s muscle starts about 30 minutes after the heart attack started and it takes about seven hours for it to actually die. After this time, the heart attack is said to be finished, resulting in the death of the person.

In the United States Of America, almost one million people suffer from a heart attack. And this is of course each year. Half of these people actually die as a result of the heart attack. There are many things that can cause a heart attack, but the main thing is cholesterol. This is deposited in the arteries walls, narrowing it. This condition is called atherosclerosis. when these vessels thicken, they cannot carry as much blood to the heart as they should and heart attack can occur. This condition can damage many different vessels that supply other organs as well. When you suffer from cholesterol and not treat the disease, a heart attack is inevitable.

Not all heart problems can cause a heart attack, but most of them end up to do so, because the condition is not treated. Most of the people that actually die after having a heart attack, usually do so after about 50 minutes from the start of the heart attack. Most of them do not even have a chance to reach the hospital. A high pressure of blood, an abnormal level of cholesterol, diabetes and even smoking can increase the risk of having a heart attack. There are also people who have genetic heart problems and might suffer a heart attack in time.
